Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
Normally, if a video game receives negative reviews and is panned by the critics, they just try to move on and try to make the next version even better. Well, that is not the case with Final Fantasy creators. After probably the worst Final Fantasy part from 2010, the XIV version, the developers at Square Enix decided to make a upgrade to the XIV version to Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn and it is amazing. The franchise is back on course of being the most influential MMORPG game of all time. The best part; the game looks great on both playable platforms, PC and Play Station 3.
The game is set in a fictional world of Eorzea, which is arguably one of the most decorated place in Final Fantasy franchise. The surrounding with forests, mountains, waterfalls and cities is just amazing and very realistic. You can live the setting on various weather conditions, from sun, fog to heavy rains. The most important thing is that the whole world is easy to explore, because there are certain time portals or teleportations, which allow you to move to another part of the world in several seconds, so there would hardly be some part without not visited.
The main story however is not very inspiring and exciting. There is the same old good vs. evil battle. There are plenty of sequences during the game and you will enjoy reading and listening to it. As the game progresses, it is clear that the tensions are getting higher. Just like every MMORPG, Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn, offers you the opportunity to choose classes. Switching between them was never harder, as it only depends on the first weapons you are carrying. Developing classes if further more possible, in a segment called jobs. You can have a primary and a secondary class. This can make your player as unique as possible, because you can combine certain skills and classes and form one great soldier.
Battle is similar to any other MMORPG, with many flashes, lights and magical moves. You can make a breakthrough as a crafter using potions and other spells on opponents. A well-known figure Chocobo can assist you in a battle if you require it or heal you, if situation gets tricky. And it will get tricky. At the beginning the game might look easy and the dungeons with bosses won’t be big challenge but over the time it will be complicated and you will sometimes really be anxious.
Aside from major story, the game offers a whole variety of side quests where you can get points and progress in the game. One of the best things about Final Fantasy is the so called fate, which are events that occur while playing the game online. There are mostly there so help rookie players to get unexpected points and older players mostly ignore it.
We rarely see a game going backwards in graphics, but this time the creators did a good thing. The game is now running great on two platforms and it is gaining players for the online experience.
Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn is a wonderful game. Pay to play MMORPG fans will enjoy this feature, before the next chapter arrives, hopefully without the necessity for improvements.
